Benefits
The City of San Benito offers a variety of benefits to its employees to include the opportunity to participate in medical, dental, vision, and other supplemental plans.

Medical Insurance coverage is provided by Texas Municipal League.


Supplemental insurance plans are available through Ameritas, Aflac, SIS, Unum, and National Farm Life.


Holidays


The City of San Benito by Ordinance 2129-A (Amended) recognizes holidays as approved by the City Commission.


Vacation Leave
The City of San Benito provides full-time employees with up to 5 years of service with 80 hour of vacation leave per year.  Employees with more than 5 years of service accrue 120 hours of vacation leave per year.

Civil service employees accrue 15 days of vacation leave per year.
 

Sick Leave
The City of San Benito provides full-time employees with 80 hours of sick leave per year.  

Civil Service employees accrue 15 days of sick leave per year. 

Retirement
The City of San Benito is a Texas Municipal Retirement System Participant.  The employee deposit rate is 5% and the City’s matching ratio is 2:1.  An employee is vested after 5 years of service and an employee is eligible to retire after 5 years of service and the age of 60 or after 20 years of service at any age.  The City of San Benito through TMRS also provides its employees and retirees with supplemental death benefits.

Employees may also contribute to other 457 plans.
