The permitted uses in each zoning district are defined in the Land Use Chart (Exhibit A) of the Zoning Ordinance. When someone wishes to rezone their property from one zoning district classification to another zoning classification, an application for rezoning is obtained from the Planning Division of the city. Upon completion, the application must be returned to the Planning Division with the following:
A non refundable fee of $100
Survey and meets and bounds if the legal description is a portion of a lot, attach plat if the property lies within a new subdivision less than two years old
City and school tax certificates
A tax statement or warranty deed indicating ownership of the property
A public hearing is set for the third Thursday of every month before the Planning and Zoning Commission at which time notices of the public hearing are sent to all property owners within 200’ radius of the proposed lot. The city staff will make their recommendation to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and if approved or denied, the request will be sent to the City Commission for their consideration with the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation. The City Commission will consider the request on two readings.
