The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, provides annual grants to states, larger cities, and counties for a broad range of activities that preserve and develop viable urban communities. The program’s principal beneficiaries are low-income persons / households.
The goals of the program are to:
Provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing
Provide a suitable living environment
Expand economic opportunities
In addition to meeting the program goals, all CDBG activities must meet one of the three following national objectives:
Benefit low and moderate income persons
Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight
Meet a need having a particular urgency (urgent need)
Applications for funding in Fiscal Year 2015-16 (41st Year) will be available Late February 2015. They may be downloaded from the Public Notices section of this site.
