The City of San Benito owns and operates the San Benito Memorial Park Cemetery and the San Benito City Cemetery also known as "El Nopal Cemetery."

Cemetery Business Hours & Contact Information

Office Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday

Office Closed: Saturday, Sunday, and on city of San Benito observed Holidays

Cemetery Grounds Opened: Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Cemetery Grounds Closed: Monday through Sunday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Burials are only allowed Monday-Saturday and require a 48 Hour Notice during Regular Business Hours. (No burials on Sundays and City Holidays)

Burial Requirements 

City of San Benito Ordinance 2464-A (PDF)

Ordinance 2464-A standards will apply to both cemeteries.

Outer Burial Containers (vaults) are required for each plot.

Grave Monuments/Markers are required for each plot

Flat 12 inches by 24" or 12 inches by 36"

San Benito Memorial Park

  • Burial Plot: $950 - Adult
    • $375 - Child (not to exceed 42 feet' long and 24 inches wide)
  • Opening and Closing: $450 - Adult
    • $225 - Child
  • Grave Monument/Marker Fee: $50

San Benito Old Cemetery "El Nopal"

  • No plots are being sold at this site!
  • Burials at this cemetery will be based on space availability and city management approval.

Before the City allows a burial, all fees must be paid in full, the outer burial container (liner), and the grave marker (tombstone) must be purchased, and documentation of these purchases must be submitted to City of San Benito City Hall office for confirmation. 

City Holiday Schedule

On City Holidays the Cemetery Offices are closed, interments, dis-interments, & grave marker installations shall not be allowed on the following holiday days:

  • Veteran's Day - November 11, 2018
  • Thanksgiving Day and Day After - November 22 and 23, 2018
  • Christmas Eve and Day Before - December 23 and 24, 2018
  • Christmas Day and Day After - December 24 and 25, 2018
  • New year's Eve and Day Before - December 30 and 31, 2018
  • New Year's Day and Day After - January 1 and 2, 2019
  • Martin Luther King Day - January 21, 2019
  • Presidents' Day - February 18, 2019
  • Good Friday - April 19, 2019
  • Memorial Day - May 27, 2019
  • Independence Day - July 4, 2019
  • Labor Day - September 2, 2019

Or on any other City observed holiday. In the event that a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be treated as the holiday. In the event that a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be treated as the holiday. 

No interments, dis-interments, or grave marker installations shall be allowed in the cemetery on any Sunday.
