Funding Amount FY 2006 -- $518,372

The fiscal year beginning October 1, 2006 reflects fund reduction at about 10% when compared to the prior year CDBG allocations for the City of San Benito.  The U. S. Depart of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), through federal regulations, allows a maximum allocation of 15% of the City’s CDBG funds for public service organizations.  Thus, the City of San Benito could only fund a total of $77,755 for public service organizations beginning on the new fiscal year – October 1, 2006.

The proposed dates of events are subject to change.

February 3, 2006                   First public hearing to be held at the San Benito Community Building located at 210 E. Heywood.  Meeting will commence at 7 P.M.  CDBG funding applications will be made available.

March 10, 2006                  CDBG funding applications are due no later than 4 P.M.  Applications can be submitted at City Hall located at 485 N. Sam Houston or at the San Benito Community Development Office located at 1400 N. Reagan Street.

April 3, 2006                   CDBG Advisory Board meets for first workshop at the San Benito Community Building at 6:30 P.M.

April 10, 2006                        Applicants for CDBG funds will have an opportunity to make project presentations to the CDBG Advisory Board.  Location will be the San Benito Community Building beginning at 6:30 P.M.

April 27, 2006                        CDBG Advisory Board meets for second workshop at which time allocations of CDBG funds will be performed.

May 2, 2006                      CDBG Advisory Board will make CDBG fund allocation recommendations to City Commission at City Hall commencing at 6:30 P.M.

May 16, 2006                       Second public hearing to be held at City Hall announcing final CDBG funding recommendations to City Commission.  City Commission will take action on final CDBG funding recommendations by the CDBG Advisory Board.

July 10, 2006                          The 30 day comment period for the City’s CDBG Action Plan beginning October 1, 2006 begins.  The Action Plan can be viewed at the City Hall or at the San Benito Community Development Office.
