Under general supervision of the Code Enforcement Director, responsible for performing activities related to enforcing animal control rules and regulations; caring for and maintaining sheltered animals and shelter, rabies isolation, quarantine and monitoring animals disposition; assisting residences with resolving nuisance violations and locating lost pets; performing euthanasia; includes patrolling neighborhoods to assist with stray, loose, wild, sick, injured, abandoned and/or dead animals; and performing related work to safe guard the health, safety and welfare as required by the City of San Benito. Work is performed with limited supervision.

Under the direct supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Lead Operator the Water Treatment Plant Operator controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and for industrial use by performing the following duties.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Wastewater Collection Supervisor operates under the supervision of the Public Works Director and is responsible for overseeing all repairs and preventive maintenance to the Citys Wastewater Collection System. This employee serves as a field employee and as a liaison between the Public Works Director and Laborers. This foreman must be able to make decisions on a variety of items ranging from simple to complex. Primary responsibilities are coordinating work of departmental employees, inspecting work in progress, preparing reports and performing other job related functions as assigned. The ability to deal with the public in a courteous, tactful and diplomatic manner is also required. Duties include, but not limited to, the following: A good knowledge of the operation of various tools/equipment used in the Wastewater Collection System. Supervising and performing more skilled work in the installation, maintenance and replacement of wastewater collection. Coordinating and supervising departmental employees. Attending pre-construction meetings with developers and contractors to discuss job requirements for pending work orders to be performed by staff. Requisitioning necessary equipment and materials for use within the department. Inspecting work-in-progress to ensure job specification standards are met. Operating light or heavy equipment used in the performance of the job. Maintaining time and material reports. Preparing work reports, tabulates pump and motor working hours as required. Performing other related duties assigned by the Public Works Director. Operate City equipment units, such as backhoe, front-end loader, excavator and dump truck, and tools such as tapping machine, jackhammer, acetylene torch, chain saw, trash pump, ditch compactor, and air compressor, to perform any operation within the capacity of the equipment and as necessary to accomplish the job required. This includes loading and transporting equipment to the work site using truck and trailer as required. Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor field repairs such as lubrication, checking fluid levels and replacing belts and other components as required. Perform work in accordance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and within mandated and appropriate safety standards. Maintain and promote excellent relations and communications with co-workers. This includes sharing the workload to maintain balance. This may include helping to train and orient new employees in acquiring skills in department policies and procedures, and department functions. Professionally respond to public inquiries (regarding water quality, back flow, incident line locations, etc.) using oral, written or computer correspondence in a courteous, efficient manner. When unable to resolve issue refer customers to Water Distribution Supervisor. Perform all duties in accordance with all City of San Benito safety policies and other applicable state or federal regulations.
