This section has the primary responsibility for the department's effort to preserve peace, protect life and property, and the prevention and suppression of crime.
Officers assigned to the Patrol Division are responsible for initial response, review, and documentation of all police incidents, traffic safety programs, accident investigations, fatal traffic accident and traffic crime investigations, traffic complaint problem solving and resolution, general traffic enforcement, and community event support missions.
The primary mission of the Patrol Division is to reduce crime through enforcement of the law and to mitigate injuries and deaths caused by traffic collisions in the community. Preventative patrols, pro-active enforcement, community education, analysis of traffic collision data, investigation of traffic collisions and active problem solving are used to accomplish this mission.
