Vital Statistics

The Vital Statistics Unit for San Benito is a function of the Business Office. Vital Statistics is responsible for reviewing, recording and filing birth, death, and fetal certificates and for recording changes of amendments, adoptions, and paternity on certificates sent from the state.

This division provides certified copies of birth and death certificates to the general public, reviews and prepares a daily report of monies collected and certificates issued, and prepares monthly and quarterly reports for the state and county.

The City has birth records dating back to 1929 and death records dating back to 1931. Birth records before 1929 and death records before 1931 will need to be requested through the State Vital Statistic Unit.
