The City of San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum, in partnership with the Mexican Consulate at Brownsville, is pleased to present La Frontera a Través del Ojo de las Mujeres (The Border Through the Eyes of Women). An opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 8th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the new museum located at 250 E. Heywood St.

The exhibit will highlight the works of three contemporary photographers including Pu Chen whose bold colored photographs depict abstract to representational imagery of the regional borderland; Brenda Bazán who explores an understanding of the environment, unveiling the beauty of the world through its people; and Verónica G. Cárdenas who brings awareness to the struggle of immigrants on the border, from a conceptual standpoint.

“This exhibit is such a great way to celebrate our land, the people of this region, and above all, a new museum that will serve as a platform for preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of our border town for years to come,” said Luis Contreras, Cultural Arts Director for the City of San Benito and curator of the exhibit.

Pu Chen, Verónica G. Cárdenas, and Brenda Bázan will be available to discuss their work.

The San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum is located at 250 E. Heywood St., San Benito, TX. Hours of operation are Thursday – Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm. For more information, contact Luis Contreras at 956-361-3800 or by email at lcontreras@cityofsanbenito.com
