The U.S. Drought Monitor reports that the drought is worsening in the Rio Grande Valley. A portion of northern Hidalgo County and a part of western Willacy County are now in the Exceptional Drought (D4) category. Meanwhile, Extreme Drought (D3-D4) conditions have spread throughout Hidalgo and Cameron counties. See the graphs below to compare this week's conditions and last week's.
