Players of all experience levels are welcome, and the leagues offer opportunities for kids to grow, compete, and enjoy the game in a positive community setting.

  • A: Registration for the 2026 Spring Pony Baseball and Softball season is $30 per child. This fee helps cover league expenses and ensures a fun, safe, and well-organized experience for all players.

Occasionally, there may be opportunities for teams to play against neighboring communities. If that happens, your child’s coach will notify you with all the details.

  • A: Games for the 2026 Spring Pony Baseball and Softball season will be held Monday through Friday. The earliest game will start at 6:00 p.m., and the latest game will end by 9 p.m. Coaches will provide the full schedule to parents before the season begins.

  • A: Yes! The 2026 Spring Pony Baseball and Softball season will include both opening and closing ceremonies. During the opening ceremony, players are welcomed to the league, teams are introduced, and there’s usually a fun group activity to kick off the season. The closing ceremony celebrates everyone’s hard work, sportsmanship, and achievements, often including team awards, recognition of players, and a chance for families to come together and celebrate a fun season.

  • A: Coaches in the Pony Baseball and Softball program are volunteers who generously give their time to support our San Benito youth. Each coach will have some of their own players on their team, and additional players will be randomly assigned to help balance teams and ensure every child has a fun and fair experience.

  • A: Generally, yes! Coaches can have their own child and a few other players they know on their team. To keep things fair for all participants, we limit assigning more than five known players to a single team. Any additional spots will be filled with players randomly assigned to ensure balanced and fun teams for everyone.

  • A: You will receive emails from the City of San Benito Parks and Recreation Department, which coordinates with the coaches. After that, your child’s coach will set up a group chat or another method to communicate directly with their team about schedules, updates, and other important information, including practice times and locations.

  • A: Practice times are determined by each team’s coach. The City of San Benito will make Stookey Park available for team practices, scheduled around game times. Your child’s coach will share the specific practice schedule with you once teams are formed.

  • A: The City of San Benito Parks and Recreation Department will provide each team with catcher’s gear for use during the season. All issued equipment must be returned to the department at the conclusion of the season. Players are welcome to bring their own Pony-approved equipment if they prefer to use gear they are comfortable with, such as bats, gloves, or helmets.
